Dont Mess with MICK Sinatra

I just love this Mick & Rosalind team! Now Will You Weep is a perfect example of what not to do Mick the Tick of his loved ones. This is a Must Read for the Mob Boss series. I have read and re-read ALL of the books in this excellent collection of inter-racial love stories. Waiting with bag=ted breath for the next installment.

Mick! Mick! Mick! No one messes with Mick's family and gets away with doing so. Ms Monroe showed us Mick's vulnerability without making him look weak. Roz is turning into a regular little gangster. Lol. Those baby's mamas better recognize that Roz is the one who Mick loves above all others. Cathleen made a bad decision. I was glad to see Tommy and Sal , Reno and Big Daddy. As always Mallory hit a home run and I am already ready for the next book, which I hope is Tommy and Grace. Joey needs to grow up.

I Did Weep Due To So Many Errors

Perhaps I waited too long for the next Monroe books - from June 16th until August 9th - for me to appreciate this book; especially, since I checked every day from July 16th until this was released. That still doesn't make up for the poor editing of this book. At first I thought it was just typos, pass instead of past, for example. The absolutely worse was using crust instead of crux. No excuses when you pay full price for a Kindle book. Please don't point out any errors in this review because I'm not an author and no one is paying money for my review. I've noticed some fans use that against those who point out errors in Ms. Monroe's books when reviewing them.

Even if the book was free, your time requires a better edited book. These errors, unlike those in past books, took away from my enjoyment - there were so many. Still, this wasn't one of the best Mick Sinatra books. I've read most, if not all of Ms. Monroe's books; from the President's Series to all of the Mob Boss series, Tommy Gabrini (still my favorite), Sal Gabrini, the Sinatras off Jericho County and finally Mick Sinatra. Even other standalone books that were excellent - love stories of older men and younger women. I think even without any typos or grammatical errors, this was simply not a very good Mick book. I did appreciate this one continuing the story from The Harder They Fall. It saved me going back through books to understand what's going on. That's the best I have to say about this book. I hope Ms. Monroe is not getting bored with the Gabrini/Sinatra family. I would love to read more books as well written as Tommy & Grace books or Sal & Gemma books or Reno & Trina earlier books. Let your fans know if that's the case, so that we can find another author to one-click. I wasn't going to review this book since this is not a favorable review but I bought the book and spent the time reading it. I had to wait almost two weeks from the time I bought it until I had a chance to read it due to illness. After waiting all of that time I was very disappointed with this book. Please have your work edited, even if you have to do it yourself. I'd rather wait for a well written and properly edited book than to have a poorly written and edited book monthly. I've had both in most of Ms. Monroe's books. I've not given up yet.

England, a registered nurse and certified nurse midwife, developed the "birthing from within" approach in a series of birthing classes to help mothers reclaim and celebrate the spiritual, emotional, and psychological aspects of birth as a rite of passage. Her book is a collection of methods that have been used for class participants. England is quick to point out that this "is not a script or a rigid method," and she encourages parents and professionals to use those portions that are helpful. There are numerous exercises and activities to help parents, especially mothers, be in contact with their bodies and feelings. The author recommends throughout that the mother and her healthcare professional work together, giving numerous suggestions for making this a successful partnership. England has done a fair amount of research and does include numerous references; at the same time, she makes it a very personal book. Okay Book; Avoid the Kindle Version

Reviewing the book itself -- I found it to be not my style. A lot of talk about art therapy and regretful moms and dads. There's some good information here, but it's clouded by a bunch of touchy-feely "let's explore our feelings by drawing pictures" stuff that, again, just doesn't work for me. Your mileage may vary.

I do like that the author doesn't sugarcoat about labor being hard and possibly the most painful/challenging thing a woman will ever face. Though I enjoyed "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth", I feel like she often glossed over how painful labor can be for some women. Not so in this book (there's a whole section on various methods and techniques for addressing pain).

As a Kindle book, this has been poorly translated to digital ink. Clearly someone used OCR or something to turn into a Kindle edition, and it shows. There are weird characters and cut off sentences all over the place. It's sloppy. Get it in print, and avoid downloading it.

A Natural Birth Must Read!

This book is great! I wish I would have had it with my first natural birth. It's so reassuring and helpful at relieving the anxiety of child birth. It also has tons of info for birthing partners to help them understand the process of labor and delivery with some great tips on how to react to situations. The author explains everything from cesarean births, to epidurals, to an unmedicated home birth. Do note that this is absolutely pro natural birth... it's encouraging, empowering, and a must read!

Great read! This book is a necessary read for mothers-to-be that get too caught up in the medical sense of giving birth and lose sight of the fact that women were MADE to successfully give birth without the use of what the modern world brings (though those things are not "discouraged")! Book arrived in perfect condition. Very please with my order!

Excellent material; edition lacking somewhat.

Of course Florence Scovel Shinn's material is the best. Just be aware that this is a half size, 39 page little pocket book, repeating a lot of what she includes in other books on love, money, intuition, etc.

If you want a little pocket book of Florence's words to carry with you in your purse or school backpack, this may do the trick. It is small and thin.

It wasn't what I was expecting but glad I bought it anyway, though I have all of FSS's other books.

About the Author
The author and editor of numerous books and articles in the areas of ethics and social and political philosophy, William H. Shaw obtained a Ph.D. in political philosophy from the London School of Economics and teaches philosophy at San Jose State University, where he served as chair of the department for eleven years. He has also been a visiting professor at the University of Zimbabwe, the University of Hong Kong, and the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He has two other books with Cengage Learning, SOCIAL AND PERSONAL ETHICS and MORAL ISSUES IN BUSINESS (with Vincent Barry).

Vincent Barry is Professor of Philosophy Emeritus at Bakersfield College, having taught there for thirty-four years as well as being a highly successful philosophy textbook author.

Well, I happen to disagree with previous comment. Not only did I like the course, I also liked the book. It wasn't an easy reading, I got to tell you. Sometimes it took more than one reading and several minutes or reflecting to figure out what the authors were talking about. But in the end it all made sense. And as a bonus the book went into great detail on philosophy, psychology, political science, and economics which I found quite helpful, since as a business major I didn't have a chance to take courses in first three subjects mentioned. The best thing, however, was, that almost a year later in packed Helsinki bar, I was able for about 15 minutes to talk about greatest German and French philosophers - all about them I learned from this book.

4 stars= some good arguments to consider, and issues it provokes. Being a philisopher student, some of these arguments are strong.

Nuntius said: "Keynes, Hayek, and Friedman" were skipped in discussion. I know that Friedman was well included, in the case studies and in some chapters. Look at 4.3 for a real focus.

He also said that "Like ssaber, I was disappointed to find a three page "defense" of capitalism and a ten page attack of it in Chapter 4, "The Nature of Capitalism.""

I noticed a sentence stating that we can't dismiss a capitalist society because of the fact of where it brought us, where as the other systems didn't do so well. Therefore, I wouldn't really consider this a dismiss on capitalism.

For example, in page 158, they say "The debate over capitalism is a large and important one; the presentation that follows should be viewed as a stimulus to further discussion and not as the last word on th pros and cons of capitalism." Furthermore, "complete coverage of capitalism's features has filled many books" (154). This clearly states what the authors intend, as a mere stimulus. In fact, having a whole chapter seems to be sufficient to their intent.

Maybe they can expand the subject to add more back and forth criticisms, but we know that debate can be long. As long as they made that statement of it merely being a stimulus, I'm ok with it.

After all, capitalism is a very new concept with the foundation of the industrial revolution. Of course debate should ensue. But I guess they should end the chapter stating the "nonetheless, a capitalist framework has got us great heights."

Great, Well Researched and Practical Text Book

This was the required textbook for my Business Ethics class.

This textbook is great! Very informative with lots of depth/research into general ethics. It then applies these theories to business with examples.

It starts each chapter with a real-life recent case study story and has several case studies and real-life examples at the end of each chapter for further discussion.

Overall, an excellent book to learn from. All the real-life ethical issues will keep you interested and wanting to read more.

A Neat Little Journal

I have not yet given this book to my 7-year-old-granddaughter and hope that she is not too young for it. She is definitely a reader and likes to write so I just ignored the suggested age of 8 and ordered it for her. It is a beautifully arranged journal, nice illustrations and for me, fun references to major fashion designers. I have been in the fashion industry so I could relate to the names, but I doubt that my granddaughter will be aware of these "famous" people. However, I expect she will enjoy jotting down her views on clothes, etc. This book is a good way to keep a child busy without worrying about any kind of mess! And hopefully, I may get to work on it with her.

A clever use of an old favorite

This book is a charming version of the classic children's song "If you're happy and you know it." It uses darling situations and illustrations to pose various different behaviors children can use to express their anger and frustration. A great aid in helping kids get out of a behavior rut.

Very helpful in teaching young children to deal with anger and frustration.

I have two boys. I bought this book for my son when he was three. I wanted it to teach him what anger is, some examples of situations which make you feel angry, and appropriate ways of dealing with anger. This book did just that.

The book is written in the form of the song "Happy and You Know It" only it's Angry, obviously, and that is how the text goes. Each verse of the song is depicted with a child in a difficult situation. As I read each page to my son (or sang it) I would ask him, "Who is angry in this picture? Why is he angry?" and then the next page would show the resolution, what the child did to deal with their anger.

Two examples from the book which I thought were great:

One boy is being teased by a friend. His solution is to walk away. The teasing friend looks sad as the boy leaves.

Another boy is having trouble building with blocks. His solution is to tell a friend. The friend then helps him build.

This book really seemed to help my son understand that anger and frustration are a normal part of life that we need to learn to deal with. We have seen him deal with frustrating situations by actually quoting a line from the book.

Interesting but at the same time arrogant

I am a political junkie who decided to read this book to learn the core elements that led to President Obama's successful 2008 campaign. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a conservative Republican who votes for John McCain.

The Audacity to WIn delivered in one respect. David Plouffe provided a detailed overview of the strategy and how it was executed.

His identification of the power of digital/and social media was a key to Obama's success. They harnessed the power of the Internet to develop a personal rapport with more than 13 million people who registered on Obama's Web site.

Several things turned me off about the book. Plouffe at times comes across as arrogant and immature. He devotes material sections of copy to demean opponents and the strategies they pursued.

I found myself wishing he would stand above the fray and be more magnanimous.

Overall, I would strongly recommend the audacity to win to any person, regardless of political persuasion, who has a definite interest in what it takes to win a presidential election.

A FASCINATING OPERATING MANUAL - How To Win The Presidency - 5 STARS !!!

I am probably north of 100 books about the Presidency. David Plouffe's "The Audacity to Win" is right up there as a masterpiece for understanding the nuts and bolts, or mechanics if you will about how to launch a campaign for the nomination, and then the Presidency of the United States. No one and I believe I have read most of them, has put together a better battlefield plan than this MASTER STRATEGIST, who came out of nowhere to launch the perfect campaign.

You know you are reading something very special when it occurs to you as you read it, that if you had a week to think about it, you could not have expressed it better yourself. Plouffe reveals himself in this book to be the best campaign manager of his generation hands down, and no one is else is even close. Just his choice of words when he expresses himself is spot on brilliant.

There are 17 chapters in this book spread among 375 pages. The writing is engrossing, fascinating, seat of the pants action. Although the book is written for the general population it is the political junkie that will love and cherish it. Plouffe is very clear that he is dealing with a young, inexperienced Barack Obama and attempting to derail a massive train called Hillary Clinton who has face value, all the money in the world, connections, power and knowing how to use power, and Plouffe wants to knock her out for the nomination. He will then, if successful, have to go against the Republican war machine.

As Plouffe points out, Republicans fall in line, Democrats fall in love. His sidekick for the journey will be David Axelrod of Chicago, who is Obama's friend and advisor for more than a decade. With Plouffe leading the charge, they would run a basically flawless campaign. There was no room for error because Hillary was already so far in front, and acknowledged as the preordained sure winner. Why even enter the race, but Obama was determined, and you don't enter a race when you want to. You enter when you think you can win it. The future President was determined that he could make a difference and now was the time. It is also pointed out that Obama knew that he would not be crushed if he lost. He was comfortable in his own skin. He could stomach defeat because his whole ego was not at risk in this race. He would be okay emotionally, losing.

Every chapter is fascinating. Every page contains vital information about how to run a campaign at the highest levels of government. How did Obama run a flawless campaign with basically no unforced errors? It's one thing when something comes out of left field that attempts to defeat you. It's another thing to create your own problems by verbal miscues or having others say the wrong thing on your behalf.

There were no leaks in this campaign. There were no members of the campaign staff that were trying to kill off other members of the staff to elevate themselves. Nobody was paid a lavish salary, and the whole deal was treated like a democracy. Everybody seemed to be comfortable with others on the staff. You did not see the numerous staff reshufflings that you see in other campaigns. The big time firings weren't there. The vetting process worked.

Plouffe takes you through the campaign step by step. He shows you how to organize, what was unique about this campaign. These guys were revolutionary in what they did. Their involvement with the Internet was mind boggling. Obama's people probably had more success with the Internet than the rest of the candidates in both political parties combined. Think about it, Obama was financially completely competitive with Hillary Clinton, and later on would manage to our draw and out spend her, because of his financial success on the Internet. No one could have predicted this.

Every time the Obama campaign took a risk, whether it was going to Europe to showcase Obama to 200,000 people in Germany, or have him make a major statement on race in Philadelphia after his minister made politically heated remarks, Obama benefited from taking the risk. America has never seen a campaign or campaigner like this before. We are fortunate to have this book written by the ultimate insider, and it will allow the rest of us to figure out how they pulled it off. We should all read it regardless of our political persuasion, and thank you for reading this review.

This is Actually a Must Read for Business not Politics

A lot of similar ground has been covered as recently as the publishing of the book "Battle of America 2008". The difference between Haynes Johnson and this book is that it has more of an inside story - fun, intimacy and sad personal moments for the players who arguably ran the most successful presidential campaign ever considering the results and the odds when it started.

It is a very easy read and you can curl up and read it very quickly

The book's real value though is what it takes to have the Audacity to Win in life or business. First of all many times in business or life the odd's are not in your favor. To overcome the odds you have to have a game plan and stick to it every day.

It also requires in business, individuals to agree to lose their life-style balance. Everyone wants to win and make money but are they prepared to pay the price? The latter is the inflection point in starting up businesses or turning them around. If you ask someone would they like to be a millionare the answer is almost always yes. Are you prepared to work 7 days a week and 18 hours per day to get it? Very few people say yes.

The book has an intimate side to it - like the author losing his dog over the phone while his wife puts him to "sleep" at the vet. I am not a dog lover but I can tell you as someone who has paid the "price" of not being home for my family during tough time there are many times I can relate.

Audacity to Win could also be called "Will you stick with the company if we are successful".

My only reason for knocking this book down to 4 stars is that I just don't like to see people write tell all books - this one is in no way always flattering to the author - so I give him that credit - but everone knows that he was a key player in winning an historic election - there will be plenty of multi-million dollar fees to run political contests in the future - why write a book about it just to make even more money? In that way it comes off to me as a sales brochure.

Gambling, Love, Romance - Ah, Perfect!

PLAYING THE ODDS is another in the MacGregor family saga and yes, the famous matchmaking Scot, Daniel MacGregor, is involved once again.

Daniel's daughter, Serena, had decided to escape the responsibilities that go hand-in-hand with her family and became a blackjack dealer on a cruise ship named Celebration. She only wanted a couple of years to enjoy life and see the world. She figured this was an excellent way to do so. After letting his daughter enjoy her freedom for a bit, Daniel decided it was time for Serena to help continue the family bloodline and get on with her life. He arranged for her to meet the man of her dreams. The only problem was that Serena didn't know she had a man of her dreams.

As is Daniel MacGregor's style, he doesn't interfere per se, he just places two people he thinks are perfect for each other in close proximity and lets the magic of romance take over from there. He's batting 1000, so he must be doing something right. I'd like Nora Roberts to spend a little more time in the mind of Daniel MacGregor. I'd like to see just how Daniel figures out who is right for whom and how he knows things will always work to his expectations. Is it magic or an insight that is rare?

After some thought, Daniel decided that one of his business associates needed a vacation. Since he was the perfect man for his daughter Serena, he encouraged Justin Blade to take a cruise to relax. Daniel figured that since Justin was a gambler and owner of a casino, he would just happen to visit the onboard casino once or twice and that would all it would take to get this romantic escapade on it's way.

What Daniel didn't expect was that Serena would not want to marry Justin right off, but instead work with him at the casino for awhile. Serena didn't want to gamble with her heart and decided the situation needed more time to evolve.

During this evolution, an old enemy of Justin's with a debt to pay makes an appearance and kidnaps Serena. Justin does everything in his power to get Serena back and Daniel is beside himself with worry.

Ok, that's it, I'm not telling you the ending, you'll have to get a copy of this one and read it for yourself! It's definitely worth the time and is a very enjoyable journey. By the way, in my opinion, any book with the MacGregor's involved has to be a good one and PLAYING THE ODDS doesn't disappoint the reader!
