I love this book series. I is the only thing I read now,sometimes it is funny and sometimes you are on the edge of your seat! I made me think of mythical crechers in a different way. (Sorry I can't spell)

Great Read

I highly enjoyed this book. Sadat in many ways was a man of tremendous wisdom and political savvy. His memoirs span his birth, the free officer movement, Nasser's reign, and Sadat's presidency. Curiously, the book ends right before the Camp David Accords as he talks about the hopes he has in working with Carter. Sadat has many fascinating insights into Egyptian politics and the Middle East. I highly recommend this book.

The add stated, " Brand new first printing hb with dj per image above, no marks or signs of use, just a hint of shelf wear" however, when I opened the book it had the name "brad" written on the inside and the letter "B" written on the inside of the dust jacket. As for "just a hint of shelf wear", I would say that this has a little more than just a hint, but I must be honest and say that I am a bit critical of the dust jacket because I am buying this for collector purposes. I am just planning on buying a brand new book and donating this one to my local library.

A Favorite Book of Mine

A wonderful autobiography of a kind and humble man. I remember his simple delight in eating a roasted onion from his grandmothers fire pit. I read this book in 1978 and thanks to Amazon, I can buy another copy to give to a friend 35 years later.

Haven't finished reading this book but so far it's very entertaining.
I enjoy reading about famous people.
Paul really reveals a lot about himself, growing up, good times, bad times and things you'd be amazed to find out. He doesn't hold back on anything. He puts everything right out there for all to see.
I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading about the lives and times of paul McCartney.
I always shop Amazon to get my books and CD's because you can get some really good deals on new and used item that are in excellent condition.

Finally a book ( I know it's not new) presenting Paul's Version of what happend. The press in particular tend to use John's (Lennon) Version of events as the holy truth , but this book sets the record straight. Paul's intention is not to correct the earlier stories, rather tell his own story. Thank you Paul McCartney and Barry Miles. A great book!

Back to Kindergarten we go!

For a Senior Citizen wanting to learn this new language, this was very helpful. The letters are huge (like for Kindergarten level) and it's so dramatically different from our alphabet, this was fun to work on.

A much better and more comprehensive treatment is "The Arabic Alphabet

As others have stated this only teaches the isolated forms of each letter, though it does a ok job of this. Haa is taught in the initial form. A much better and more comprehensive treatment is "The Arabic Alphabet: How to Read and Write It" by Nicholas Awde and Putros Samano. This includes all forms (initial, medial, final, and isolated) for each letter, breaks down the short vowels and other marks, and provides a much better foundation in general for this difficult language.The Amazon link is:

This is a great book for beginners looking to get familiar with Arabic ...

This is a great book for beginners looking to get familiar with Arabic characters and the Arabic alphabet. One big con of the book, however, is that there is no information on how to connect letters to one another. Thus, you only know the stand alone version of the letter, and not the way to link the letter for proper word formation. I would recommend this book to parents looking to introduce their children to the language but not for the serious student of Arabic who wants to have mastered the alphabet once finished with a book.

If you're reading this, chances are very good that even though Gilmore Girls ended three years ago, you simply can't get the lives and loves of the people of Stars Hollow out of your mind. I'm the same way. You've probably heard people say that they wrote a particular book because it was the kind of book they wanted to read; in this case, that's exactly what happened. 
Throughout the show's seven-year run, I stalked Amazon and my local bookstores, always hoping that someone would publish a book about this, one of my favorite shows of all time. By 2008, a year after the last episode had aired, I realized that nobody was going to write one, which is when I approached my publisher about the prospect of writing one of my own. Thankfully, the head of BearManor Media is one of those souls who realizes just how important some television shows can be to people. After nearly three years, 480 pages, and more than 40 interviews with the cast and crew of Gilmore Girls, I've come to appreciate just how unique this series, and the people who worked so tirelessly behind it, really are. My hope is that after reading it, you will too. 

About the Author
A.S. Berman is a longtime Gilmore Girls fan, and author of The New Horror Handbook and 30 Years of British Television. He and his wife (and Gilmore Girls Companion art director) Pamela share a house with a cat named after Max Medina, though CatKirk now seems more suitable. (Max, no!) Berman is currently working on Soap! The Inside Story of the Sitcom that Broke All the Rules.

A treasure trove of details

Bottom line is that big fans of the show will absolutely love this book. Even moderate fans of the show should appreciate the beginning of the book (a forward by Edward Hermann - Richard Gilmore - and the backstory of how the show came into being) and the After Gilmore chapter (which summarizes the subsequent three years for all of the key people). Big fans of the series will go gaga over the amazing amount of detail that forms the bulk of the book.

For each episode, there is:
* a synopsis
* Ginchy!, a collection of particularly heart-warming moments
* Notes
* Amen, sister friend! (memorable dialogs)

There are also amusing sections where appropriate such as:
* Kirk-of-all-trades
* You've entered Emilyland
* Emily's maid du jour
* Today's celebration

In addition to all that, there are extensive behind the scenes notes, biographical information on many of the actors and production people, and more. Besides being fun to read, it helped reinforce the dedication to quality that everyone had. When you watch the show, the attention to detail is quite evident, but the book gives the details that describe what it was really like.

While the book would have been better if the principles (Amy Sherman-Palladino, Lauren Graham, and Alexis Bledel) would have been interviewed, the reality is that it wasn't going to happen.

Kudos to the author for going through the enormous effort required to get all of this information together in one place.

Great read

I was waiting for someone to review this book before I bought it just to be sure it was a good read.But since no one did, I HAD to have it. I really enjoyed this book and it made me go back and rewatch many episodes to see some of the details that the author pointed out. At times I could not put this book down even if it was majority a book about the episodes. I would have loved to have more of the main characters interviewed but overall, this was a GREAT book that puts the show in a different light for me. I respect the author's opinion and enjoyed some of the backround details of the show.

A must for fans!

If anyone is considering it, but not sure if it's worth it: it totally is. There are just so many behind-the-scenes tidbits about everyone and everything. Edward Hermann apparently took Alexis under his wing at the beginning of the series and watched out of her: her would tell the producers, etc., when she was being burnt out (she, a novice and shy, wasn't comfortable speaking up for that). If you watch the early episodes and notice how much Lorelai puts her arm around Rory, it's Lauren guiding Alexis to her mark. Kelly Bishop risked jinxing herself by telling the people at the audition what a great script it was. Keiko kept sneakers and a sweater from her Lane wardrobe; Todd Lowe swiped some Hep Alien swag. This book is a must-have for anyone that is or ever was a GG fan.
